Zirkzee, who was having an impressive outing against the Magpies, went down shortly after the break. The Dutch forward was seen clutching the back of his leg and was soon attended by the medical team. He then limped off the pitch as Ruben Amorim brought in Rasmus Hojlund in the 55th minute.

Zirkzee's injury news comes as a huge blow for the Red Devils, who are gearing up to face Lyon in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final fixture next week. The two teams met in the first leg in France earlier this week, where Zirkzee scored a late goal to put United in front. Rayan Cherki's last-gasp goal, however, helped the Ligue 1 side to hold the English giants to a 2-2 draw.
