The Spaniard tore his knee ligament after a clash with Antoine Griezmann on the pitch. He was quickly replaced by Hansi Flick, who brought in Eric Garcia in place of the central midfielder. On Monday, Barcelona confirmed that the player underwent tests which revealed that he injured the ligament on his right knee and further tests will conducted to determine the extent of the injury.

The news comes as a huge blow for Barcelona, who are competing for a treble in the 2024-25 campaign. Casado had established himself as a mainstay in Flick's side, having appeared in 36 matches across all competitions thus far, where he scored one goal and provided six assists.
