Tottenham will not allow themselves to be bullied by Atletico Madrid into selling star centre-back Romero, according to . The Argentina international has emerged as one of Spurs' most important players and was crucial in the latter stages of the glorious Europa League campaign, delivering a player of the match performance in the final against Manchester United.

Romero has previously revealed he wants to play in Spain's La Liga and has taken swipes at the Tottenham ownership over their decision to sack previous manager Ange Postecoglou, who has since been replaced by Thomas Frank. However, with two years remaining on his current contract, the 27-year-old could be forced to remain in north London if Atletico fail to stump up the cash to meet Spurs' valuation.
