Per , more than 50 per cent of the United squad has been deemed surplus to new manager Ruben Amorim's needs and could be sold over the next few transfer windows. Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group have decided to entrust Amorim with the squad rebuilding process, however, for that to happen, the club need to make sales first.

The journalist further claims that only a few key members of the team will be retained on a long-term basis which includes players like Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs De Ligt, Lenny Yoro and Andre Onana. Captain Bruno Fernandes, who penned a fresh deal earlier this season, will also remain at Old Trafford at least until 2027.

With the squad overhaul in mind, the Red Devils have already prepared a shortlist of players they want to sign in the upcoming transfer window. The club could raid Amorim's previous team Sporting CP in January as they hope to sign striker Viktor Gyokeres and young defender Geovany Quenda.
