(h/t Sport Witness)claim that Man Utd have set their sights on Atalanta shot-stopper Carnesecchi, who is highly regarded and "coveted" by the club. The 24-year-old became the first-choice goalkeeper in Bergamo in the 2023-24 season and showed significant improvement in the past year, receiving call-ups to the Italian national team. With a contract until 2028, La Dea will remain patient but will consider a bid north of €40 million (£33.5m/$45m) to part ways with the Italian custodian.

Onana made a high-profile move to Old Trafford from Inter in 2023, but has had two nightmarish seasons under his belt at United, being on the receiving end of intense scrunity and becoming a bearer of unwanted records. The Red Devils have been linked with numerous goalkeepers across Europe in their bid to offload the Cameroonian. Last week, Nice goalkeeper Martin Bulka was believed to have been on United's radar, while reports earlier this month suggested that they want to sign Roma's Mile Svilar. Other names such as Barcelona's Marc-Andre ter Stegen and highly-rated Lille No. 1 Lucas Chevalier have made the rounds in recent days, while reports also claimed that an Emi Martinez arrival wasn't off the table either.

While speculation is rife with the notion that United consider Onana surplus to their requirements, a recent report from rather contradicted all the earlier rumours. They stated that due to United having to splurge money to cover other higher-priority positions in the squad, the desire to sign a new top-tier goalkeeper could evaporate. As such, the former Ajax sensation is poised to retain his berth as Ruben Amorim's No. 1 goalkeeper next season, with Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton continuing their roles as backups.
